This direct-hire, hybrid opportunity provides hands-on experience across U.S. GAAP technical accounting, close excellence, financial reporting, internal controls, SAP, automation, and finance transformation, with significant exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional partners across Accounting, Finance, Operations, Tax, Treasury, and Corporate functions.
The Technical Accounting Lead will lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for U.S. entities while serving as a technical accounting resource for complex transactions, emerging accounting standards, and financial reporting matters. This role will oversee general ledger and balance sheet governance, strengthen internal controls, and lead initiatives to improve close efficiency, reporting quality, automation, and accounting processes. Working across a sophisticated global manufacturing environment, this position will also support acquisitions, reorganizations, system implementations, and broader finance transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities for U.S. entities.
- Coordinate close activities across Accounting, Operations, Tax, Treasury, Shared Services, and Corporate Finance.
- Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, accruals, allocations, account analyses, and reconciliations.
- Review and approve complex accounting transactions and supporting documentation.
- Maintain balance sheet governance and drive timely resolution of reconciling and aging items.
- Research, interpret, and implement new accounting standards and U.S. GAAP guidance.
- Prepare technical accounting analyses and memoranda for complex transactions, acquisitions, restructurings, leases, revenue matters, and other significant business events.
- Support alignment between U.S. GAAP and IFRS reporting requirements where applicable.
- Prepare and review financial reporting packages, management reporting, and analysis of financial results and variances.
- Serve as a key accounting contact for internal and external audits and support remediation of audit findings.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting, including control design, documentation, testing, and remediation.
- Identify opportunities to streamline close and accounting workflows, reduce manual processes, and improve reporting accuracy.
- Partner with finance technology and ERP teams on SAP enhancements, system implementations, automation, and finance transformation initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional accounting projects involving acquisitions, reorganizations, integrations, and business process changes.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and development support to accounting team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Active U.S. CPA license required.
- 7–10+ years of progressive accounting experience within public accounting and/or corporate accounting environments.
- Experience leading month-end close and financial reporting for large or complex organizations.
- Strong experience with technical accounting research and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience preparing technical accounting memoranda and supporting complex transactions.
- Experience with internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit support.
- Experience with ERP systems; SAP preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial data analysis skills.
- Experience with financial consolidation, reporting, and reconciliation tools.
- Experience supporting accounting or reporting within a manufacturing, industrial, chemical, or multinational environment preferred.
- Prior supervisory or people management experience preferred.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
