The NOC Technician will help maintain the performance and reliability of a high-capacity fiber network by monitoring network activity, troubleshooting service issues, and supporting customers throughout the Greater Houston area. Working closely with Network Operations and Field Operations, this role manages trouble tickets from identification through resolution, coordinates outage responses, and provides technical support to keep customers connected.
Responsibilities
- Monitor network performance, availability, alarms, and service-affecting events.
- Manage trouble tickets from initial identification through troubleshooting, escalation, resolution, and closure.
- Provide timely technical support to customers through inbound calls and other communication channels.
- Troubleshoot network issues and escalate complex incidents to appropriate technical teams.
- Track network outages and maintenance activities while providing status updates and notifications.
- Coordinate with Field Operations to trace network routes and provide route information.
- Support dispatch coordination, escalations, and field technician callouts.
- Maintain accurate network, incident, maintenance, and troubleshooting documentation.
- Update network monitoring systems to improve data accuracy and operational visibility.
- Generate and distribute network and operational reports as required.
Qualifications
- At least 1–2 years of IT, networking, telecommunications, or technical support experience is required.
- Experience monitoring or supporting network operations is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Network Operations Center, telecommunications network, or switch-site concepts and procedures.
- Knowledge of network hardware, network operations, and monitoring systems.
- Experience troubleshooting technical issues and managing support or trouble tickets.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work the 7:00 AM–4:00 PM shift in Southwest Houston near Missouri City.
- Ability to accommodate nights, weekends, or schedule flexibility when operational needs require.
- Experience with OTRS, Remedy, SNMP, SolarWinds, OneControl, or OSP systems is preferred.
