The HR Shared Services Manager will lead the development and ongoing evolution of an employee services model designed to deliver consistent, compliant, and scalable HR support while enabling HR Business Partners and Centers of Excellence to focus on strategic priorities. This role will establish clear service delivery structures and handoffs, lead a tiered HR support model, optimize HR systems and processes, and use service metrics and workforce data to continuously improve the employee experience. The position will also lead and develop HR team members while serving as a strategic partner to HR leadership.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and continuously evolve the HR shared services and employee services operating model.
- Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and service handoffs across Shared Services, HR Business Partners, and Centers of Excellence.
- Translate business and HR needs into scalable employee service solutions.
- Implement and manage a tiered HR support model focused on responsiveness, consistency, and first-contact resolution.
- Define and analyze employee services metrics to identify trends and improve service delivery.
- Lead change management for new HR processes, systems, and service delivery approaches.
- Expand employee and manager self-service through HR technology, documentation, and automation.
- Develop HR knowledge articles, FAQs, process guides, and training resources.
- Own HRIS administration and continuous optimization, including data integrity, system performance, activity tracking, and management reporting.
- Develop workforce and recruitment reporting and executive-level insights to support decision-making.
- Manage assigned HR vendors, service performance, negotiations, and contract administration.
- Facilitate training on HR practices, compliance, and employment law.
- Advise managers and HR stakeholders on HR processes, programs, and operational practices.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, compliance, consistency, and employee experience.
- Lead, coach, and develop HR team members while driving continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent education and professional experience.
- 10+ years of HR experience within HR operations, shared services, or employee services environments.
- 2+ years of direct people leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing employee lifecycle processes and HR service delivery.
- Experience developing, implementing, measuring, and improving HR programs or operating processes.
- Experience administering or optimizing HRIS platforms, including data integrity and management reporting.
- Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems and recruiting technologies.
- Knowledge of employment laws, regulatory requirements, and HR operational practices.
- Experience managing external HR vendors and service performance.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule based in the Houston area.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally less than 10%.
- Global HR operations or geographically diverse workforce experience preferred.
- Experience within a global, high-growth engineering or industrial organization preferred.
- Experience within a foreign-owned organization preferred.
- SPHR, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SHRM-CP, or GPHR certification preferred.
