The Engineer-Gas Utility will apply engineering principles to design and support the installation of natural gas distribution systems, including pipeline sizing, system layouts, load and pressure requirements, and future system growth. This role will also coordinate projects through field installation, ensuring designs are practical, efficient, and aligned with gas utility engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design natural gas distribution facilities using established engineering principles, standards, and requirements.
- Perform engineering calculations and analyses involving pipeline sizing, system layouts, loads, pressures, and capacity.
- Evaluate existing gas distribution systems and future growth requirements to support infrastructure planning.
- Develop engineering designs and technical documentation for gas utility projects.
- Manage and coordinate projects from engineering design through field installation.
- Partner with field personnel and project stakeholders to address installation requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Review field conditions and incorporate necessary changes into engineering designs.
- Ensure gas distribution designs support safe, efficient, and practical installation and operation.
- Apply applicable gas utility engineering standards and regulatory requirements throughout project execution.
- Coordinate multiple engineering and construction activities to maintain project schedules and design requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or another approved engineering discipline required.
- 5+ years of utility engineering or design experience required, specifically involving gas utility design or related gas distribution projects.
- Experience designing natural gas distribution facilities and pipeline systems.
- Experience with pipeline sizing, system layouts, load requirements, pressure requirements, and system capacity or growth analysis.
- Experience managing and coordinating engineering projects through field installation.
- Working knowledge of gas utility engineering standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience developing and interpreting engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Experience coordinating with field operations, construction personnel, and other engineering stakeholders.
