Tulsa, OK | Hybrid After Training
Join an established energy equipment manufacturer with 160+ years of engineering heritage and take ownership of the full product development lifecycle for high-performance pump systems used in severe-duty oil and gas applications. This is a strong fit for an engineer who wants more than a narrow design role—one that combines R&D, ideation, prototyping, testing, validation, launch, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement. Gain hands-on exposure to fluid dynamics, CFD, FEA, ANSYS, GD&T, 3D modeling, root-cause analysis, manufacturing support, and direct customer/field interaction while helping improve products that operate in demanding frac and pressure-pumping environments.
The Product Development Engineer will research, design, develop, sustain, and troubleshoot advanced pump assemblies and components. This role will own engineering work from concept through launch, applying mechanical analysis and simulation tools to improve performance, reliability, and durability while partnering closely with manufacturing teams and customers.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop high-performance pump assemblies and mechanical components.
- Lead engineering projects from ideation and concept development through prototyping, testing, validation, and launch.
- Apply fluid dynamics and CFD principles to evaluate pump, hydraulic, pressure-system, and fluid-flow behavior.
- Perform finite element analysis to evaluate stresses, loads, durability, failure modes, and mechanical performance.
- Use ANSYS for FEA and/or fluid-flow simulation in support of product development and troubleshooting.
- Improve existing product designs to enhance reliability, quality, and performance.
- Conduct mechanical failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
- Provide production support and resolve engineering issues affecting current product lines.
- Partner with manufacturing, customer support, and other cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.
- Engage directly with customers and field personnel to understand product performance and application challenges.
- Maintain technical documentation including 2D drawings, 3D models, specifications, test results, BOMs, and product manuals.
- Apply GD&T and tolerance analysis throughout the design and development process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
- 5–10 years of product development, mechanical engineering, or engineering support experience preferred; candidates with less experience may be considered based on technical depth.
- Hands-on experience with fluid dynamics and/or CFD required.
- Hands-on finite element analysis (FEA) experience required.
- ANSYS experience required, ideally for FEA and/or fluid-flow simulation.
- Experience troubleshooting mechanical failures and performing root-cause analysis.
- Experience with 3D modeling, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor, SAP, or comparable engineering/manufacturing systems preferred.
- Pump design, oilfield pressure pumping, or severe-duty equipment experience preferred.
- Ability to travel 10%–15% throughout North America.
- Ability to work onsite during training, followed by a hybrid schedule of four days onsite and one day remote in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
