The Director of Operations will provide operational leadership across five Illinois facilities, overseeing plant performance, financial results, and site leadership. This role will manage Plant Managers and other operations leaders while maintaining direct ownership of P&L performance, analyzing margins and costs, and implementing strategies that improve profitability, productivity, and operational results.
Responsibilities
- Lead operations across five facilities throughout Illinois.
- Manage and develop Plant Managers, General Managers, Operations Managers, and other site leadership.
- Own P&L performance across assigned facilities, including revenue, costs, margins, and profitability.
- Analyze operational and financial results to identify performance gaps and opportunities to improve profit.
- Establish operating priorities, performance expectations, and accountability across multiple locations.
- Partner with plant leadership to improve productivity, efficiency, cost management, and overall facility performance.
- Monitor operational KPIs and use performance data to guide business decisions.
- Develop and execute strategies that improve margins and support organizational growth.
- Standardize operating practices and processes across facilities where appropriate.
- Evaluate plant performance and work directly with site leaders to address operational challenges.
- Use Excel and operational systems to analyze performance, track results, and support decision-making.
- Maintain regular visibility and engagement across the five Illinois facilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 10+ years of Plant Management experience required.
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple plants or facilities.
- Manufacturing experience required; recycling, construction, or other industrial operations experience also relevant.
- Direct P&L ownership with experience analyzing costs, margins, and profitability.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing initiatives that improve operational and financial performance.
- Experience directly managing Plant Managers, General Managers, Operations Managers, or comparable operational leaders.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience using operational management systems.
- Experience overseeing performance across geographically dispersed facilities.
- Ability to work from Normal, Illinois, and support operations across multiple Illinois locations.
