The Business Development Manager will drive growth of the solvent business across North and South America, with a particular focus on solvent-based flexographic and gravure printing for flexible packaging applications. This hands-on technical and commercial role will partner with Sales, Product Management, Distribution Management, and customers to identify opportunities, support implementation, conduct press trials, and move new business from initial engagement through the first commercial order.
Responsibilities
- Develop new solvent business opportunities in partnership with Sales, Product Management, and Distribution Management.
- Guide prospective customers from initial technical engagement through implementation and first commercial order.
- Conduct hands-on press trials at customer facilities throughout North and South America.
- Work directly with press room personnel to support solvent-based flexographic and gravure printing applications.
- Provide technical troubleshooting, application support, and process recommendations to improve printing performance and manufacturing efficiency.
- Monitor printing technologies, customer requirements, competitive activity, and market developments to identify growth opportunities.
- Educate customers and internal teams on the technical benefits and commercial value of solvent solutions.
- Analyze, document, and present press trial results and technical findings.
- Build relationships with customer press room personnel, ink manufacturers, and technical and commercial decision-makers.
- Represent the organization at customer meetings, technical seminars, and industry events.
- Partner across commercial and technical teams to support product positioning, customer success, and business growth.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in solvent-based flexible packaging printing, including flexographic and/or rotogravure printing operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with press room operations required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or another closely related chemical/technical discipline required.
- Experience conducting or supporting press trials, troubleshooting printing processes, and providing technical application support.
- Experience working directly with press room personnel, printing ink manufacturers, and other technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting business development, customer implementation, or other commercial initiatives within the printing or flexible packaging industry.
- Experience working on cross-functional commercial and technical projects.
- Ability to travel approximately 35–40% throughout North and South America.
