The Senior Contracts Advisor will lead contracting strategies, commercial negotiations, and contract execution for medium and large-scale energy and EPC projects. Serving as a key commercial partner throughout the project lifecycle, this role structures major agreements, leads competitive RFP processes, manages contractual risk, and collaborates with Engineering, Procurement, Legal, Finance, and project stakeholders to improve cost, schedule, and overall project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop contracting strategies and commercial frameworks for major capital and energy projects.
- Manage the development of project contracts, assessing commercial terms, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Lead negotiations with EPC contractors, General Contractors, and other project partners on terms and conditions.
- Develop comprehensive RFP packages aligned with project requirements, schedules, and contracting strategies.
- Lead competitive bidding processes, including bidder meetings, site visits, RFP addenda, evaluations, and negotiations.
- Structure contract provisions to appropriately allocate risk and limit organizational exposure.
- Manage contract administration from award through project closeout, including Notices to Proceed and final documentation.
- Review invoices and evaluate and negotiate Change Order Requests.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with EPC and General Contractors to support current and future projects.
- Identify opportunities to reduce total installed cost, shorten project schedules, minimize change orders and claims, and reduce project risk.
- Ensure contracting activities comply with established procurement policies and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master of Legal Studies or JD with a construction emphasis also applicable.
- At least 7 years of contract management experience supporting medium or large industrial EPC projects or a closely related environment.
- Experience developing, negotiating, and administering complex project contracts.
- Strong knowledge of EPC contracting, procurement procedures, and competitive RFP processes.
- Understanding of legal considerations related to design, construction, and project execution.
- Knowledge of project-related tax, finance, insurance, and commercial risk considerations.
- Experience negotiating change orders, contract terms, commercial provisions, and contractor agreements.
- Experience supporting major capital projects throughout the contracting lifecycle.
- Background in energy systems, onsite utilities, construction, renewable energy, or projects serving public, industrial, or commercial customers is strongly preferred.
