The Materials Management Specialist will play a critical role in supporting the successful execution of major capital and construction projects by ensuring critical materials and equipment are available when and where they are needed. Working closely with Construction, Engineering, Procurement, EPC contractors, suppliers, and project leadership, this position provides end-to-end visibility into material readiness, identifies supply chain risks, and helps keep complex energy infrastructure projects on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Lead materials management activities for assigned capital and construction projects, ensuring project readiness throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor long-lead and critical-path equipment from procurement through manufacturing, factory testing, shipment, delivery, staging, and project handoff.
- Partner with Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, EPC contractors, Owner's Engineers, and OEM suppliers to coordinate material readiness and resolve issues.
- Identify supply chain risks related to manufacturing, logistics, supplier performance, and quality while developing mitigation and recovery plans.
- Track critical equipment status, delivery milestones, and project material availability.
- Prepare executive-level reporting on material readiness, supplier performance, project risks, and recovery actions.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure materials align with construction schedules and execution milestones.
- Escalate critical material constraints and recommend solutions that minimize project impacts.
- Maintain accurate documentation, action logs, and project material tracking records.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance materials management processes and project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in materials management, supply chain, procurement, logistics, or project controls supporting large capital or construction projects.
- Knowledge of project material planning, equipment tracking, supplier coordination, and logistics management.
- Experience working with Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Operations, EPC contractors, or equipment manufacturers.
- Strong understanding of project schedules, critical-path materials, and project execution processes.
- Experience identifying supply chain risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare executive-level reports and communicate project status effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and project tracking tools.
- Utility, energy, industrial construction, or infrastructure project experience is preferred.
