OSHA Releases Updated Program Guidelines for Comment
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has created a document for employers to use when developing employee protection programs regarding workplace conditions.
The draft is called Protecting Whistleblowers: Recommended Practices for Employers for Preventing and Addressing Retaliation. The idea is for employers to create a “non-retaliatory environment” in the workplace.
OSHA is encouraging comments on the draft and is interested in comments related to:
- How anti-retaliation concepts are described
- Important features of anti-retaliation program
- Challenges to implementation of the recommended practices
- Issues specific to small businesses
It should be noted that these are updates to an existing document, and are only guidelines with no legal obligations.
You are able to review the document and make comments here until January 19, 2016.
