Although we are thankful for the warmer weather, return of power and water, we recognize that there is still a massive need in our local community.
Over the last few days, our team has been staying connected to assess the basic needs of our Primary Family – you.
In efforts to help support our contractors during this time, our team has put together a list of helpful resources to help those who have been directly impacted by the Winter Storm. Please see the below:
Rent and Utility
Texas Rent Relief
The deadline to apply for the statewide rental assistance program’s priority group has been extended due to the Winter Storms – deadline is now March 8. Texans who wish to apply can call 1-833-9TX-RENT and apply by phone. The Houston Chronicle has provided a FAQ if interested to apply.
Houston Harris County Winter Storm Relief Fund
Mayor Sylvester Turner and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo have established the Houston Harris County Winter Storm Relief Fun. The Fund will focus on relief and recovery efforts across the City of Houston and Harris County. The Greater Houston Community Foundation and United Way of Greater Houston will share information about all grants publicly on the Fund’s website – link above. Scroll down to the ‘Seeking Help’ for their most up to date announcements.
Houston- Harris Emergency Rental Assistance Program
Tenants who have missed rent or utility bills due to financial hardship stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic can start applying for relief from the city and county on Thursday. More information about the eligibility application process is available at this link.
Plumbers and Contractors
We know that many have suffered home damage or plumbing issues at home. This list is a crowd sourced list of plumbers in the area with phone numbers and recommendations from your fellow Houstonians.
Food and Water Distribution Sites

Winter Storm 2021 – Houston Food Bank
The Houston Food Bank routinely prepares to immediately respond to the needs of the community. This link will take you directly to their support page detailing how they can assist during this time.
Gallery Furniture – Community Assistance
Gallery Furniture is offering free food & water distribution at 6006 N. Freeway GF location Monday – Friday between 9AM and 11AM. You will have access to grab free water and food items provided by Goya Foods and other amazing community contributors.
Montgomery Food Bank
If you are in the Montgomery County area, this food bank Food Bank works with over 70 partner agencies in Montgomery County to distribute food. The Above Link will take you to a directory with all the available pantries and hours of operations.
Shelter and Warming Centers
Warming Center Locator
For Texans who find themselves stranded without power or in need of warmth, the Texas A&M University System has a warming center locator set up to help find warming locations across the state.
FEMA/ Disaster Assistance
If you were affected by the winter storms in Texas, you can apply for disaster assistance online by selecting “Apply Online”. During the application process please ensure to select the cause of damage snow/ice amongst other damages that may have occurred. FEMA includes grants for temporary housing, home repairs in Texas’ emergency aid.

If you have immediate needs for food or shelter, you can always contact 2-1-1 for local resources.
