This Houston-based opportunity provides direct, hands-on support to energy traders and commercial professionals in a fast-paced trading environment.
The IT Service Desk professional will provide dedicated, in-person IT support directly on the trading floor, serving as a first point of contact for technology issues affecting Traders and Front Office Commercial teams. Working onsite in Houston, this role will troubleshoot desktop, infrastructure, networking, Microsoft, and trading technology issues where rapid resolution can impact business operations in real time. The position combines high-touch end-user support with increasingly technical responsibilities, including scripting, automation, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-person IT floor support to Traders and Front Office Commercial users in a time-sensitive trading environment.
- Troubleshoot Windows OS, PC hardware, networking, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory, and related end-user technologies.
- Provide first-level support and triage for trading applications, market data services, online trading platforms, and enterprise systems.
- Coordinate escalated issues with Service Desk, infrastructure, application support, IT teams, and external vendors.
- Support market data and trading technologies such as Bloomberg, Reuters, ICE, MarketView, and similar platforms.
- Facilitate local hardware and software deployments and technology rollouts.
- Support annual business continuity testing and other operational readiness activities.
- Follow established IT security, compliance, equipment, and service management procedures.
- Apply technical knowledge to improve support processes, tools, automation, and the end-user experience.
- Utilize scripting and development tools to support evolving business and technology needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline, or qualifying associate degree/equivalent education.
- Minimum of 5 years of desktop, infrastructure, or end-user IT support experience.
- Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Active Directory, PC hardware, and networking.
- Experience with IT ticketing/call-logging systems such as ServiceNow.
- Experience supporting users in high-pressure, business-critical environments.
- Familiarity with market data services such as Bloomberg, Reuters, ICE, or MarketView preferred.
- Knowledge of Excel, VBA, Java, PowerShell, and/or Microsoft Power Platform preferred.
- Knowledge of IT support and troubleshooting processes; ITIL certification is a plus.
- Ability to work onsite in Houston.
