The Procurement Specialist will lead strategic sourcing initiatives for technology products and services, partnering with business and IT stakeholders to understand requirements, develop sourcing strategies, evaluate the supplier market, and negotiate contracts. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of strategic sourcing experience and a strong background in IT procurement, supplier evaluation, and commercial negotiations. This role requires a true strategic sourcing mindset—looking beyond quotes and pricing to evaluate supplier capabilities, commercial terms, risk, service levels, and long-term business value.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for IT products, software, cloud services, hardware, and professional services.
- Gather business and technical requirements from stakeholders and translate them into effective sourcing strategies.
- Research supplier markets, technology trends, and industry developments to identify qualified vendors and sourcing opportunities.
- Lead competitive sourcing events and establish supplier evaluation criteria based on capabilities, cost, risk, service, and business requirements.
- Facilitate supplier evaluation meetings and guide cross-functional stakeholders through selection decisions.
- Conduct supplier due diligence covering financial stability, reputation, service quality, regulatory compliance, and operational capabilities.
- Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, contract terms, SLAs, warranties, delivery requirements, and other key provisions.
- Partner with Legal and business stakeholders to ensure agreements align with organizational requirements and mitigate commercial risk.
- Manage supplier relationships and conduct performance reviews to address issues and identify improvement opportunities.
- Maintain sourcing documentation, contracts, supplier records, and performance metrics.
- Monitor the IT supplier landscape for cost savings, innovation, consolidation, and process improvement opportunities.
- Ensure sourcing activities comply with procurement policies, governance standards, and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of strategic sourcing experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience in IT strategic sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiation within a corporate environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing sourcing strategies from requirements gathering through supplier selection and contract execution.
- Experience leading RFP/RFQ processes, supplier evaluations, and cross-functional evaluation teams.
- Strong knowledge of IT procurement across software, hardware, cloud services, and professional services.
- Experience negotiating complex commercial terms, SLAs, pricing structures, and contractual provisions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and contract or procurement management systems.
- Knowledge of procurement governance, supplier risk, and vendor management practices.
- Master’s degree or procurement/supply chain certification such as CPSM or CSCP preferred.
