The Rotating Equipment Inspector will provide day-to-day rotating equipment assurance and technical support within a large-scale production environment. Working closely with Rotating Equipment Engineers, Operations, and Maintenance, this role serves as a first point of contact for equipment troubleshooting, repair activities, reliability concerns, and proactive equipment monitoring. The Rotating Equipment Inspector will help improve machinery reliability, equipment health, maintenance execution, and process safety while supporting both routine operations and turnaround activities.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot abnormal rotating equipment conditions and respond to Operations and Maintenance requests, including support outside normal business hours when required.
- Review rotating equipment issues in shift reports, maintenance notifications, and daily production activities.
- Monitor equipment health using tools such as PTM Hub, PI Vision, SmartConnect, and related condition-monitoring systems.
- Review equipment repairs, participate in failure analysis, and prepare equipment failure reports.
- Develop equipment repair specifications, scopes, and Inspection Test Plans, including quality assurance hold and witness points.
- Support 5-Why Failure Cause Analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Provide rotating equipment assurance for operating and machinery-related procedures.
- Execute proactive technical monitoring and identify developing equipment reliability concerns.
- Support Reliability-Centered Maintenance improvements and preventive maintenance change requests.
- Develop and support rotating equipment work scopes for shutdowns, turnarounds, and maintenance execution.
- Review and correct equipment Bills of Material in GSAP/CMMS and submit inventory requests when discrepancies are identified.
- Provide technical guidance and training to Operations and Maintenance personnel to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and equipment performance.
- Support MOC/PSSR field assurance activities and escalate significant technical concerns to the appropriate Rotating Equipment Engineer.
Qualifications
- Experience inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, or supporting rotating equipment in an industrial, refining, petrochemical, chemical, or energy environment.
- Working knowledge of rotating machinery reliability, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair practices.
- Experience developing or reviewing rotating equipment repair scopes, specifications, and Inspection Test Plans.
- Experience performing equipment failure analysis and reliability investigations.
- Knowledge of condition monitoring and proactive equipment health assessment practices.
- Experience with CMMS/maintenance systems such as GSAP/SAP or comparable platforms.
- Experience reviewing equipment Bills of Material, maintenance notifications, and preventive maintenance requirements.
- Familiarity with Reliability-Centered Maintenance, MOC/PSSR processes, turnaround planning, and maintenance execution preferred.
- Ability to provide rotating equipment support outside normal business hours when operational needs require.
