The Part-Time GIS Analyst will support solar and energy storage development by providing geospatial analysis and cartographic expertise for prospective and active project locations. Working with the GIS Manager and project developers, this role will use ArcGIS and other geospatial technologies to evaluate land ownership, environmental constraints, real estate considerations, and project layouts while improving data workflows and GIS processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop maps, web maps, and cartographic deliverables supporting solar and energy storage development.
- Perform advanced geospatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro, ModelBuilder, and geoprocessing tools.
- Compile and analyze project constraints using ALTA surveys, land agreements, project reports, and publicly available data.
- Plot metes and bounds to verify land ownership and property information.
- Utilize Enverus to support site selection campaigns and project layouts.
- Analyze raster, LiDAR, and other geospatial datasets as required.
- Maintain geospatial databases and update datasets in accordance with data governance requirements.
- Manage geospatial data inputs, workflows, and lifecycle processes.
- Utilize Python scripting and ArcGIS ModelBuilder to automate routine GIS activities.
- Identify and implement workflow improvements that increase GIS efficiency.
- Support multiple renewable energy development projects with shifting priorities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 2–5 years of professional GIS experience.
- Hands-on ESRI ArcGIS Pro experience is required.
- Advanced experience with GIS, ModelBuilder, ArcGIS Online, and geoprocessing tools.
- Experience developing maps and other professional cartographic deliverables.
- Experience interpreting ALTA surveys, land agreements, legal descriptions, or related real estate information preferred.
- GIS Certificate preferred.
- Experience with Python scripting and GIS workflow automation preferred.
- Enverus experience is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Automate, CAD, JavaScript, Salesforce, raster data, or LiDAR is a plus.
- Renewable energy, solar, energy storage, or related energy industry experience is preferred.
