The Outside Sales Representative will drive sales growth for mulch, compost, and soil products while managing an established book of business and developing new customer relationships throughout the assigned territory. Working independently, with support from regional leadership, this role partners with businesses, municipalities, and community organizations to expand market presence, increase revenue, and promote sustainable waste-diversion solutions.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow an existing book of business while identifying and acquiring new customer accounts.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve and exceed monthly revenue and retention goals.
- Build long-term relationships with commercial customers, municipalities, community organizations, and industry partners.
- Research market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to identify new business opportunities.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, Chamber of Commerce events, and community activities.
- Maintain current knowledge of products, services, pricing, and market offerings.
- Track customer interactions, opportunities, and sales activities within the CRM system.
- Enter sales orders, coordinate transportation logistics, and communicate order fulfillment with operating facilities.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to support regional sales objectives and business growth.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid state-issued driver's license.
- At least 2 years of outside sales experience with a proven track record of managing a book of business and exceeding sales quotas.
- Agricultural sales experience required.
- Knowledge of SB 1383 regulations and applicable certification requirements.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Experience using CRM platforms and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
- Strong negotiation, relationship management, and customer retention experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze market opportunities and develop effective sales strategies.
- Experience working with municipalities, commercial customers, or environmental services is a plus.
