Primary Services is actively recruiting for a Risk Control Analyst to support a prestigious client in the energy trading industry. This role is perfect for an analytical professional with a solid background in finance, economics, or a quantitative discipline and a passion for risk management in a dynamic trading environment. As a Risk Control Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing, modeling, and reporting market risks, ensuring compliance with internal trading limits, and contributing to the continuous improvement of risk management processes.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, model, and report market risk for all trading activities, including physical and financial trades, transportation, storage, park and loan, and foreign exchange deals.
- Assess daily mark-to-market valuations, risk positions, basis changes, and P&L results.
- Develop and maintain risk reporting and analytics to communicate positions, P&L, and market risk to traders and management.
- Coordinate and review trading deals and prices in the system by conducting deal checks, price validation, curve updates, and data reconciliation.
- Monitor timely deal capture, internal trading limits, and risk policy requirements to ensure accurate representation of transactions.
- Provide critical thinking on risk reporting processes, quantification, and analysis of commodity exposure and forward price movements.
- Maintain, enhance, and test risk models; evaluate model assumptions and recommend enhancements for better risk quantification.
- Work closely with traders to quantify and explain the sources of risk in their portfolios.
- Contribute to the reporting of trading results and positions to senior management.
- Collaborate with Back Office, Finance, Credit, Legal & Compliance, and Business Unit Control teams to ensure best control practices, operational efficiency, and policy compliance.
- Coordinate with Compliance to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
- Support and assist in implementing process improvements, including system testing and process optimization.
- Identify and communicate operational risks, define risk mitigation measures, and prioritize improvements.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of risk management methodologies, valuation models, and market risk control practices.
- Proficiency in Power BI, Python, or data management software like Alteryx.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency under tight deadlines.
- Flexibility with working hours to accommodate business needs in a dynamic trading environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and collaboration across teams.
