This critical role will oversee all disaster recovery and incident management activities to ensure business continuity across the organization. Job Overview:
The IT Disaster Recovery Manager will lead disaster recovery planning and incident management initiatives within the IT department. In this role, you will collaborate with business continuity teams to ensure that disaster recovery processes are in place, tested, and continuously improved to meet business needs. You will manage IT crises, lead cross-functional teams in high-pressure situations, and ensure the organization’s IT infrastructure is prepared to respond to disasters, service outages, and cybersecurity threats.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage disaster recovery planning, ensuring alignment with business continuity strategies and risk management goals.
- Oversee incident management processes, coordinating IT responses during crises and collaborating with Crisis Management teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Conduct disaster recovery drills, tabletop exercises, and post-incident reviews to identify improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure the resilience of critical IT systems and applications.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery frameworks, including runbooks, RTOs (Recovery Time Objectives), and RPOs (Recovery Point Objectives).
- Manage vendor relationships for disaster recovery services and ensure proper escalation processes for third-party dependencies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, such as PCI DSS, GDPR, or SOX, related to data protection and disaster recovery.
- Provide regular updates to senior executives on disaster recovery readiness and incident outcomes.
- Lead and guide cross-functional teams during disaster recovery and incident management events.
- Monitor emerging technology trends and evolving threats to ensure that recovery plans remain effective and current.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Management, or a related field (equivalent years of related work experience may be considered).
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in IT project management, including large-scale infrastructure and application recovery projects.
- 3-5 years of experience in incident management, including leading responses to cybersecurity threats, service outages, and natural disasters.
- Strong experience in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution with a focus on infrastructure and application recovery.
- Prior experience in a large retail environment, with understanding of distribution, logistics, and omnichannel systems (e-commerce, in-store, and supply chain integration) is a plus.
- Industry certifications in IT project management, disaster recovery, or incident management (e.g., PMP, CISSP, ITIL) preferred.
- Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Proficiency in project management and business continuity tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify risks and implement mitigating solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership skills with the ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, virtualized environments, and data replication technologies.
