Primary Services is actively recruiting for a Fiber Optic Technician to support a large, established client in the telecommunications industry. This opportunity is ideal for a field professional with commercial fiber experience who enjoys hands-on work, maintaining network infrastructure, and supporting reliable communication systems. The Fiber Optic Technician will perform construction, maintenance, and repair activities while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Construct, maintain, reroute, and repair fiber optic cable plants.
- Set, remove, and repair utility poles.
- Pull, place, lash, de-lash, and secure strand, cable, and grounding systems.
- Operate company vehicles safely while traveling to local job sites.
- Read maps and project documentation to plan and complete assigned work.
- Maintain accurate records of company equipment and materials.
- Safely operate ladders, aerial lift devices, hand tools, and other field equipment.
- Respond to emergency service calls and outage restoration activities when required.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, quality standards, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Document completed work and communicate project status to supervisors.
- Perform additional field and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of commercial fiber optics experience required.
- At least 6 months of hands-on commercial fiber installation, maintenance, or repair experience.
- Valid Texas driver's license with the ability to meet company driving requirements.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work night shifts when needed and maintain a flexible schedule for emergency response.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Experience working with utility poles, aerial construction, cable placement, lashing, and grounding systems.
- Ability to operate hand tools, ladders, and aerial lift equipment safely.
- Minimum of two years of related field experience and/or equivalent training preferred.
