Primary Services is excited to announce the CAPEX Specialist role for our client. This position offers a unique opportunity to support key projects from initiation through closure. The role is fully onsite in Bay City, TX, and requires regular travel to the site; applicants are not required to reside in the area. You will collaborate with project engineers, finance teams, and corporate stakeholders to ensure accurate CAPEX administration, financial tracking, and reporting. Hands-on experience with SAP and familiarity with project planning tools will be essential in driving project success.
Responsibilities
- Track, log, and maintain all project initiation requests from plant stakeholders.
- Maintain organized CAPEX initiation logs and ensure supporting documentation is current.
- Support development and preparation of the annual CAPEX plan.
- Upload and update approved CAPEX budgets in SAP.
- Assist project engineers with Appropriation Requests (ARs) and track approval status.
- Establish and maintain project WBS structures in SAP aligned with funding and cost distribution.
- Coordinate with Finance to ensure timely release of approved funds.
- Provide administrative and system support to project engineers during execution.
- Ensure accurate communication of project scope, cost, and schedule information.
- Monitor monthly project spending in SAP and report on commitments, actuals, and remaining budgets.
- Track project cost performance and alert CAPEX Manager to variances or concerns.
- Coordinate project close-out activities and verify completion of required documentation.
- Maintain organized electronic folders for ARs, approvals, and close-out files, ensuring audit readiness.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant CAPEX experience.
- Hands-on experience with SAP project systems, including WBS setup, cost tracking, and reporting.
- Working knowledge of Primavera or other project planning tools.
- Understanding of capital project lifecycle from initiation to closure.
- Experience managing project budgets and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in tracking multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and documentation skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up and coordination abilities.
