2006 FUUSA Highlights
December 2006 – Primary celebrated Christmas with 80 of FUUSA's after school program children, ranging in age from 6 to 14 years. The party was held at FUUSA's offices deep in the heart of Houston's historic Third Ward community. Afternoon events included providing crafts for each child to assemble their own photo frame as a gift for their parents. Primary volunteers enjoyed helping children paint and decorate the frames, including taking their photos. Gifts donated and wrapped by Primary staff members and matched by Primary’s owner were given to each child. A balloon artist entertained the group, creating a personalized balloon toy for each child. Plenty of refreshments and cookies were provided for all.
November 2006 – FUUSA's "Celebration of Thanks" luncheon was held at the Junior League. Contributions raised through the event went to further FUUSA's ongoing crusade to help at risk children/adults. Primary volunteers helped set up tables, assembled decorations, handed out programs, and greeted guests.
August 2006 – A key member of Primary's management team participated in FUUSA’s strategic planning retreat, presenting a half-day leadership workshop to FUUSA staff.
July 2006 – One of several programs offered by FUUSA is its Children Health Insurance Program (CHIP) outreach assistance for nine counties, including Harris. Their annual fundraiser was held at the Almeda Mall in Houston, Texas. A variety of entertainment was provided, including singers, artists and speakers, such as Mayor Bill White. A vast number of corporate sponsors participated. Primary volunteers, plainly visible in their Primary tee shirts, staffed the registration and information booths.
