Primary Services supports The Women

December 2009 - Several members of the Primary recruiting team "adopted" a resident of The Women's Home, providing her with a holiday stocking filled with small gifts and treats. The stockings were presented to each resident at The Home's Annual Holiday Party.

Marcia Tapp, Director of Resource Development for The Women's Home, kicked of the evening with a special word of encouragement and warm wishes for the holiday season. A resident soon began to play festive music on the piano while everyone, volunteer, friends and residents, joined together in song! Following dinner, the volunteers and residents celebrated with games, karaoke, cookie decorating and dessert.

The night ended with a very special slide show of that evening's activates. The residents returned to their rooms to find stockings and holiday gifts waiting for them. It was truly a blessing to see the joy and happiness each woman expressed during this special time.

The Women’s Home is a non-profit United Way agency that serves women who have experienced homelessness because of mental illness, abuse or addiction. Nearly 90% of women who participate in the program for six months or longer leave with income and housing. To learn more about volunteering or supporting The Women's Home, please click here.
